James Nick Sears
About: A background in electrical engineering, computer science, and music, along with a spot at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program coalesce to create Nick's current fascination with three-dimensional persistence of vision displays. At Maker Faire 2007 he will demo his latest piece, The ORB, while sharing a peek into the production process of his forthcoming fully three-dimensional spherical display.
The ORB
Displaying surface images of spherical objects in true 3D, the Orb allows the viewing of information -- such as the breakup of Pangea -- with unprecedented perspective.
