About: Björn Hartmann is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Stanford University, working in the Human Computer Interaction group. He received a BA in Communication, a BSE in Digital Media Design, and an MSE in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. Before coming to Stanford he had a successful career as an electronic musician in Europe. His current research focuses on physical computing, user interface software tools, and novel interfaces for musical expression.
