Tom Zimmerman
About: I am an inventor, educator and researcher at the IBM Almaden Research Center who loves gadgets, LEDs, synthesizers and hooking people up to computers. I'm interested in solar and wind energy; electronic music technology that enables anyone to share the joys of participating in the musical experience; teaching science and engineering to youngsters through informal hands-on education; intentional communities that support life, creativity, self-expression and health; red wine, garlic, basil, hard cheese, sour dough bread, apples and real tomatoes; life beyond warfare; low-cost ($8k) electric vehicles modeled on auto-rickshaws; and anybody who has or is interested in starting companies to do any of the above to help make the world a better, healthier, safer and more-fun place to play, live and work.
